Principles

Messe München GmbH (Munich International Trade Fairs) thanks you for visiting our website and for your interest in our company and our products. We take the protection of your private data seriously and we want you to feel comfortable when visiting our Internet pages. The protection of your privacy is of the utmost importance to us. Therefore it goes without saying that we comply with statutory provisions for data protection. Our employees are obligated to treat all information confidentially and they receive regular training in the areas of data protection and data security. In the sections below, we would like to briefly explain how we protect your data and what it means for you when you make use of our online offers.

Access data

When our Internet pages are called up, Messe München GmbH – responsible in terms of data privacy laws – receives access data which is stored for protective purposes that basically allows us to identify you. This data includes

  • the name of your Internet service provider
  • the country you come from
  • the website you come from to visit us
  • the search term you use, if you come to our site via a search engine
  • the websites of ours that you visit
  • the user tool (web browser, operating system) you use to access us
  • files that you download from our site (e.g. PDF or Word documents);
  • the duration of your visit
  • the date and the time of your visit

This will enable us to optimise our offerings as a whole and personalise the content specifically for you, e.g. recognise you as a return visitor to our Internet offering. If you have an existing data set, the new Data can be allocated to this data set in many cases.

Personal data

Personal data is information that is used explicitly to determine your identity. It includes information such as your name and your postal or e-mail address. The only time we save personal data in addition to your access data is if you give us this information voluntarily, e.g. as part of a registration, a survey, a prize competition, a contact inquiry, an application for a newsletter or to process an online order. Moreover, personal data is used only to the extent necessary and only for the legally permissible purpose for which you gave your consent. To ensure the secure transmission of your data, Messe München GmbH employs encryption procedures in secure areas. This means that communication between your browser and our order system, for instance, cannot be read by others on the Internet. Incidentally, using our order system is regarded as consenting to the storage and use of your data by Messe München and its partners.

Passing on personal data to third parties

Messe München GmbH renders some of its services together with select partners. These partners are subject to the same strict statutory provisions for data protection as and are integrated into the data-protection concept of Messe München. Personal data is only passed on

  • when processing order-related data, such as for online orders
  • in exceptional cases, provided you have given your prior consent

Additional information - such as voluntary statements about your primary areas of interest - is not passed on to third parties by Messe München. Personal data is conveyed to state institutions and authorities only within the scope of statutory or judicial obligations.

ISPO COMMUNITY

Messe München GmbH additionally offers the option of becoming an ISPO COMMUNITY member, free of charge. This is a social network. As a member, you can set up your personal profile, vote for, like or comment on content by third parties, post your own content, etc. You can register here to join our ISPO COMMUNITY.

When registering for the ISPO COMMUNITY, we will require your e-mail address (= personal information).

Personal information also consists of further data you enter upon registering (e.g. your real name, your date of birth), as well as information you will be sharing with other members of the community (such as photos).

If you provide us with the corresponding consent, we will additionally access your data and information freely available on other social networks you belong to (e.g. Facebook, Google, Yahoo), which will then be integrated into your profile in our ISPO COMMUNITY. Conversely - subject to your consent - your data from our ISPO COMMUNITY can also be used on other social networks you belong to.

Objective and extent of collecting and using data within the scope of the ISPO COMMUNITY

We process and use the personal data collected in the interest of operating our ISPO COMMUNITY as comprehensively and seamlessly as possible, which includes maintaining your membership. This comprises, for example, collecting, processing and using your data for member registration as well as for creating and maintaining your profile.

Moreover, the ISPO COMMUNITY may, subject to your consent, also offer you the option of being contacted not only by other members of the ISPO COMMUNITY as well as by us within the COMMUNITY's context, but also by other project partners. We will also only share your personal data, such as your e-mail address, with third parties if you have provided us with prior consent.

If you consent, we can also use your personal data to suggest contacts whom you may know or whom you may be interested in knowing. Additionally, we use - subject to your consent - your personal data for our own commercial purposes, such as sending newsletters or to establish contact for sweepstakes and similar events carried out by us or by a third party; or for sharing with our partners.

Power of revocation

If you request in writing or by e-mail that Messe München GmbH or the representative responsible for you correct, cease from using or delete your personal data, we shall of course do so immediately. If you are registered as a user or as a member of our ISPO COMMUNITY, we also offer you the opportunity to view the data and/or your profile for yourself and delete or change it if necessary.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files which are used by many websites in Germany and throughout the world. Cookies are created during your visit to our website and are placed on your hard disk by our server. Our cookies contain no information about specific individuals. Moreover, cookies placed by our servers can only be read again by us and not by any external website. Other active content (e.g. Javascript, ActiveX)

Javascript, ActiveX and other website control elements and script languages that contain executing elements can be deactivated at any time for security reasons using your browser. Our web pages are still navigable without Javascript.
